Basketball Teams Set for Final Conference Weekend

The men and women's basketball teams host a pair of conference games this weekend against Maine Maritime Academy and Husson University.  Friday night's doubleheader against the Mariners begins at 6 pm with the men followed by the women at 8 pm.  On Saturday the Eagles welcome Husson at 2 pm (men) and 4 pm (women).

This is the final home and regular season conference weekend for both teams and is critical for seeding with the post-season tournament approaching. Saturday is also Senior Day for the women who honor 4 student athletes (Brittany Holden, Christina Chamberlin, Natalie Clark, and Jessica Houck).  The men graduate 5 players (Fabian Ferreira, Herley Pellew, Jamie Kennedy, Scott McGuiness, and Alphonso Howlett).  There will be a brief ceremony honoring these athletes 5 minutes prior to their respective contests.

The women are currently tied for 5th in the conference standings with Johnson and Lyndon State.  Earlier this season, the women lost (80-67) at Husson but picked up an overtime win over MMA (66-64).

The men are also 5th in the standings and can lock up a post-season bid with a victory Friday night.  The men also split with Husson and MMA this season, losing at Husson (79-74) and picking up a hard-fought double overtime win at MMA (71-69).
