Ealges Capture Eastern Nazarene Crusader Classic Title

 

Quincy, MA. - Green Mountain College captured the Eastern Nazarene Crusader Classic Saturday afternoon beating Mitchell College 82-73.  The Eagles, who featured 4 players in double figures, were led by senior guard Fabian Ferreira (Queens, NY) who tallied 24 points on 7 for 11 shooting from the field.  Gerard Johnson (Binghamton, NY) added 10 points and 11 boards, while Travis Debreaux (Baltimore, MD) had 19 and senior captain Herley Pellew (Brooklyn, NY) chipped in with 15 including 3 for 4 shooting from beyond the arc.

The Eagles, who trailed by two (27-29) at the half, tallied 55 points after the break to surge past the Pequots while shooting 67.9% from the field.  Defensively, GMC forced 13 turnovers while blocking two shots and holding Mitchell College to 42.6% shooting for the game.

The Pequots were led by Jenel Russell who scored 23 on 11 for 16 shooting and Eric Murray who added 16 points in the loss.

The win was the third consecutive for the Eagles and second in as many days.  GMC is back in action Wednesday, December 10th at home where they face St. Joe's College (VT).  Tip-off is set for 7pm.
