Eagles Use Quick Start To Fuel 84-80 Victory Over Johnson State

JOHNSON, Vt. (February 7, 2009) - Johnson State saw visiting Green Mountain College race out to a 10-2 lead in the opening minutes and never gave up the lead as the Eagles defeated the host Badgers 84-80 in Carter Gym on Saturday in North Atlantic Conference play.
The Eagles (12-8, 4-5 NAC) were on fire throughout the contest connecting on 31-of-50 shots in the game for a 62% field goal percentage for the game.
Johnson State (11-9, 5-4 NAC) was paced by Bobby Shedd (Johnson, Vt./Lamoille Union) and his 23 points on 10-of-14 shooting while adding a team-best eight rebounds. John Foley (Valley Stream, N.Y./Holy Cross) added 16 points and collected three steals while Michael Bosch (Carrollton, Ga./Peoples Academy) netted 11 points.
Green Mountain saw Rui Carmo (Cape Coral, Fla.) record a game-high 26 points and add nine rebounds, all defensive. Fabian Ferreira (Queens, N.Y.) scored 19 points, Rich Bailey (Bronx, N.Y.) added 17 points, and Gerard Johnson (Binghamton, N.Y.) tossed in 14 points.
Johnson State will play again on Tuesday at home against Lyndon State at 5:30 pm while Green Mountain will travel to play at Castleton also at 5:30 pm.
