Castleton falls to visiting Green Mountain

The Castleton State College men's basketball team
dropped a 61-58 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) match up with
visiting
Green Mountain College Tuesday evening at Glenbrook Gymnasium.
Castleton held a 39-34 lead at halftime, and surged to a 55-44
lead
with 12:33 remaining, but the visiting Eagles used a 17-3 run to
close
out the game and steal the win.
Rui Carmo scored 19 of his game-high 25 points in the first half
to
lead the 13-8 (5-5 NAC) Eagles. Carmo also hauled in 13 rebounds
for the
double-double, while Fabian Ferreira added 12 points.
Marcus Hass led the 2-19 (1-9 NAC) Spartans with 14 points and
12
rebounds. Keith Schneider and Cameron Bodine chipped in 12 and 11
points
respectively.
Both teams return to action this weekend when they travel to
Maine for
back-to-back conference games. The Spartans will take on
Maine-Farmington Friday evening at 5:30, while Green Mountain
squares
off at Thomas at 6:00.
