Thomas knockes off Green Mountain in NAC Men's Semifinals
Waterville, ME—The North Atlantic Conference postseason basketball tournament kicked off Friday night with a Thomas College (Waterville, ME) victory over Green Mountain College (Pultney, VT). The Terriers entered the tournament as the #1 seed and Green Mountain was seeded #4. Thomas was able to overcome the Eagles of Green Mountain by the final score of 90-84.

The North Atlantic Conference honored a trio of GMC women and men’s basketball players this week. The All-Conference teams, as voted on by the coaches, featured two second-team nominations and one honorable mention for both teams.

GMC Too Much for Johnson
The Green Mountain College Eagles used a 13 point first half lead to propel them to victory over Johnson State College (86-77) and a berth in the NAC semifinals. The Eagles limited to JSC to 27 first half points and 41.8% shooting for the game.

Eagles Earn 4th seed and Host NAC Quarterfinal Game Tuesday
In their first season with the conference, Green Mountain secured the fourth seed in the tournament. The Eagles (15-10 overall, 7-7 NAC) will host Johnson State (12-13 overall, 6-8 NAC) in first round action on Tuesday at 7:30 pm. The two squads split two tight contests each earning victories on the road.

GMC Topples Husson On Senior Day
Green Mountain College shot 60.8% from the field and 61.9% from beyond the arc to beat conference leaders Husson University Saturday afternoon (99-96). With the win the Eagles finish the regular season with a (7-7) conference mark and (15-10) overall. Husson falls to (11-3) in the NAC and (14-11) on the season.

Eagles Outlast Mariners
The Green Mountain College Eagles staved off a late Mariner run to pick-up a crucial North Atlantic Conference victory Friday night (66-61). GMC built an 11-point lead mid-way through the second half before the visitors from Maine Maritime closed to within 3 in the closing minutes.

Basketball Teams Set for Final Conference Weekend
The men and women’s basketball teams host a pair of conference games this weekend against Maine Maritime Academy and Husson University. Friday night’s doubleheader against the Mariners begins at 6 pm with the men followed by the women at 8 pm. On Saturday the Eagles welcome Husson at 2 pm (men) and 4 pm (women).

The University of Maine at Farmington men's basketball team needed to stave off an opponent's rally for the second game in a row as the Beavers survived against Green Mountain College with a 65-57 victory in North Atlantic Conference action today at Dearborn Gymnasium.

Terriers Improve Record with Victory over Green Mountain College
In a defensive North Atlantic Conference battle, the Thomas College Terriers defeated the Green Mountain College Eagles by a score of 59-52. Three Terriers would score double-digits, while the Eagles would have two in double figures. Offense would be hard to come by on the night with both teams shooting under 40% on the night. Thomas would finish at 36.8%, while Green Mountain would finish at 32.7%.

Castleton falls to visiting Green Mountain
The Castleton State College men’s basketball team dropped a 61-58 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) match up with visiting Green Mountain College Tuesday evening at Glenbrook Gymnasium. Castleton held a 39-34 lead at halftime, and surged to a 55-44 lead with 12:33 remaining, but the visiting Eagles used a 17-3 run to close out the game and steal the win.

Eagles Use Quick Start To Fuel 84-80 Victory Over Johnson State
JOHNSON, Vt. (February 7, 2009) – Johnson State saw visiting Green Mountain College race out to a 10-2 lead in the opening minutes and never gave up the lead as the Eagles defeated the host Badgers 84-80 in Carter Gym on Saturday in North Atlantic Conference play. The Eagles (12-8, 4-5 NAC) were on fire throughout the contest connecting on 31-of-50 shots in the game for a 62% field goal percentage for the game.

Men Win NAC Thriller On The Road
Green Mountain College senior Fabian Ferreira (Queens, NY) tallied 36 points as the Eagles collected a hard-fought NAC overtime road victory Tuesday night against Lyndon State (92-90). Junior Eddie Asieduo (Brooklyn, NY) made a pair of clutch free throws with 12.4 seconds remaining in the extra stanza to seal the win. Senior Herley Pellew (Brooklyn, NY) drained a 3-pointer with .5 seconds left in regulation to send the game to overtime. The Eagles improve to (3-5) in conference play and (11-7) overall. Tonight’s men’s and women’s basketball games at North Atlantic Conference opponent Lyndon State college will be broadcast live via the Northeast Sports Network. GMC Drops Conference Contest
The visiting Terriers of Thomas College held of a late Green Mountain College charge to notch a North Atlantic Conference victory Saturday afternoon (79-73). With the loss the Eagles fall to (10-6) overall and (2-4) in conference play while the Terriers improve to (9-7) and (6-2). The Eagles were forced to play catch-up for most of the game after falling behind by as many as 10 in the first half. The Terriers shot 46.4% in the opening stanza while limiting the home side to 41.9%.

Green Mountain Drops Home Conference Contest
Sophomore Eric Taylor (Oakland, ME) led all scorers with 34 points to pace the visiting University of Maine Farmington Beavers to a road conference victory over the host Eagles of Green Mountain College Friday night (77-65). The Eagles had no answer for Taylor who shot 14 for 22 from the floor and added 12 rebounds in the winning effort.

The Maine Maritime Academy Mariners lost in double overtime to Green Mountain College, 71-69, on Saturday afternoon in a conference match-up at Margaret Smith Gymnasium. Rich Bailey (Bronx, NY) made 4 free throws and the game-winning basket with 6 seconds left to lift the visitors to victory.

Johnson State Silences Eagles on the Road
In a North Atlantic Conference game Tuesday night, the visiting Badgers from Johnson State College used a superior rebounding and clutch free throw shooting down the stretch to beat the Green Mountain College Eagles on the road. JSC, led by senior Bobby Shedd (Johnson, VT) (18 points, 11 rebounds), held the Eagles to only 4 points in the final 5:59 of the game to claim a 6-point victory, 60-54. In a game that featured 17 lead changes, it was the Badgers who were able to pull away in the final minutes thanks to excellent free throw shooting and stifling defense. Trailing by 3 with :19 left, Leandro Martinez (Philadelphia, PA) sunk two free throws to put the game out of reach.

Ferreira Leads Eagles to Victory
Senior Fabian Ferreira scored 28 points on 5-6 shooting beyond the arc to propel GMC to a road non-conference victory Saturday afternoon at MCLA. The Eagles, who trailed 31-24 at the half, used a stifling 2nd half defensive effort to outscore the trailblazers 37-23 and close the game out with a 61-54 win. Story to follow.

Hornet's Edge Eagle's
Lyndon State’s Brad Durr (Windham, CT) scored a game high 26 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to help Hornets edge Green Mountain College on the road Tuesday night. With 1:45 left and the score 62-60 in favor of GMC, Durr made a lay-up and converted the free-throw after a foul to put LSC up for good. Noah fink added a lay-up with 1:32 on the clock to extend the lead o 65-62. Clutch free throw shooting by the Hornets the rest of the way preserved the victory.

Wells College Downs Eagles
The visiting Wells College Express halted the Green Mountain College 7 game win streak in emphatic fashion Thursday night, 85-60 improving to 6-7 on the season. The Express used 56% shooting from the field and a dominating performance on the boards to claim victory. Wells led start to finish on the heels of junior Juan Paulino’s (Bronx, NY) 21 points on 10-12 shooting and 11 rebounds. Fellow junior Darrell Bullock added 12 points and six assists.

Eagles run Streak to Seven
Green Mountain defeated New England College 86-77 in their return to action after the New Year. The Eagles who never trailed in the ballgame took a lead of 42-35 into halftime. The Eagles pushed the lead to double figures early in the second half, and managed to keep it there throughout the majority if the half. The Pilgrims never stop playing, and finished the game on a 14-2 run over the last 3 minutes to cut the margin to 9.

Travis Debreaux named NAC Rookie of the Week
In helping Green Mountain finish the week 2-0, Debreaux averaged 17.5ppg and 9.0rpg. In a 64-59 win vs the College of St. Joseph, Debreaux scored 14 points and added 8 rebounds, and then helped GMC to a 79-64 victory over Vermont Tech on Saturday with 21 points and 10 rebounds.

Green Mountain forward Gerard Johnson averaged 13.3 points, 9 rebounds and 4.3 assists in a 3-0 week for the Eagles including two double-double performances earning MVP of the Crusader Classic. Johnson earned NAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week.

Quincy, MA. – Green Mountain College captured the Eastern Nazarene Crusader Classic Saturday afternoon beating Mitchell College 82-73. The Eagles, who featured 4 players in double figures, were led by senior guard Fabian Ferreira (Queens, NY) who tallied 24 points on 7 for 11 shooting from the field. Gerard Johnson (Binghamton, NY) added 10 points and 11 boards, while Travis Debreaux (Baltimore, MD) had 19 and senior captain Herley Pellew (Brooklyn, NY) chipped in with15 including 3 for 4 shooting from beyond the arc.

Green Mountain College beat Framingham State 64-60 Friday night in the opening round of the Eastern Nazarene Crusader Classic. Twenty offensive boards and thirty-two trips to the free throw line aided the Eagles in earning a place in the Championship game on Saturday at 4 pm against Mitchell College.

Green Mountain College overcame a slow start to defeat Bard College in Saturday's consolation game of D'Youville's AD Pro Classic in Buffalo, NY. Bard jumped out to an early lead, and built a 16 point advantage with ten minutes remaining in the first half, before the Eagles whittled the deficit to one at 40-39 at the break.

Husson University was selected as the men's basketball preseason favorite of the North Atlantic Conference in a vote conducted by the league's coaches. The Eagles were a unanimous choice for the top spot receiving all eight first place votes and a total of 64 points in the NAC men's basketball preseason poll.

Green Mountain's Adam Fisher Inks Contract in Mexico
Green Mountain College’s Adam Fisher has just signed a professional basketball contract with Tijuana Galagos in the LNBP. The LNBP is the top professional league in Mexico, and Fisher has signed with the Galagos to help them in the stretch run as they make a push for the playoffs. “It was something I’ve dreamed of since I was a little kid, it’s a blessing.”
