Senior Night Success
Poultney, VT (February 20, 2008) - Green Mountain played host to Word of Life on Senior Night at the Eagle Dome. Halftime saw a doubling effect as the Eagles led 52-26 and looked to be soaring away with the game shooting 51.3% from the field. The second half proved to be similar with the Eagles outscoring the Huskies 46-25.
The Word of Life Huskies saw freshman forward David Arthur (Remsen, NY) score 13 and pull in 5 boards on 5-19 shooting including 3-14 from 3 point land. Also in double digits for the Huskies was sophomore guard Justin large (Sebring, FL) who chipped in 11 point on 5-11 shooting.
Green Mountain saw two with double-doubles. Senior guard Adam Fisher (Miami, FL) poured in 34, dished 10 assist, and grabbed 7 boards. Fellow senior forward Doug Hammond (Brooklyn, NY) scored 22 and grabbed 19 rebounds while senior guard Alphonso Howlett (New York, NY) ignited the Eagles early scoring 12 on the night with 5 boards on 4-7 shooting from beyond the arc.
Green Mountain plays next in the Northeast Regional Championship. Semi-final match to be played on Saturday against Finlandia University with the other semi-final at 5:30 PM. Championship match slated for 3 PM on Sunday. All games are being played in the Eagle Dome on the Green Mountain College campus.
