Eagles Hold On VS. Panthers
Poultney, VT (Saturday, February 2, 2008) - In a battle that one would never consider by looking at records, the Albany Pharmacy Panthers came into the Eagle Dome with the type of attitude one needs to have for heroic performances. Despite being down 31-13 in the first, Albany Pharmacy found a way to send the game into halftime with only a 4 point deficit, 35-31.
The second half showed an even stronger belief as they cut the lead to 3 and 4 on different occasions. Green Mountain would not relent, however, finding senior leadership and home court an advantage. Three players would find double digits for the Eagles and 42.2% shooting from the field pushing them beyond reach.
Albany Pharmacy was led by a gritty performance by 5th year forward Ramy Ramzy (Ontario, Canada) who scored 14 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. 3rd year guard Bryan Jones (Gouverneur, NY) would contribute 13 and 5th year guard Vartan Balian (Ontario, Canada) would chip in 10 for the effort.
Green Mountain was dominant in senior forward Doug Hammond (Brooklyn, NY) who poured in 24, grabbed 18 boards, and blocked 12 shots for a triple-double. Fellow senior guard Adam Fisher (Miami, FL) would have a quiet 17 while grabbing 8 rebounds and junior guard Fabian Ferreira (Queens, NY) would chip in 10.
Green Mountain (14-4) travels to Southern Vermont on Tuesday for a 8 PM tip-off. Albany (6-13) will host New Hampshire Tech tomorrow at 1 PM.
