Hot Shooting Sinks Eagles

Poultney, VT (Thursday, January 17, 2008) - Despite playing four games in six days, Green Mountain College managed to keep an emotional pace with the Warriors from Eastern Connecticut State University.  Early in the second half the game was tied on two different occasions but the Eagles couldn't get any closer than two points down the stretch.  Hot shooting by Eastern from beyond the arc (12-25, 48%) was the difference maker and often broke the back as Green Mountain looked to stack momentum.

The Warriors from ECSU (8-6) were led by hot handed junior guard Larry Kelley (New Haven, CT) who dropped 25 including going 5-8 from 3 point land.  Senior forward Leon Martin (Woodbury, CT) tallied his 1,000 career point early in the game and finished with 17 points and 10 boards in the winning effort.

Green Mountain Eagles (12-3) saw senior forward Doug Hammond (Brooklyn, NY) score 25 points and haul down an inspiring 22 rebounds.  Senior guard Adam Fisher (Miami, FL) scored 29 points (including 8-8 from the line) and dished 6 assists.  Junior guard Fabian Ferreira (Queens, NY) dropped 19 and went 8-10 from the charity stripe.

Green Mountain is back is action on the road Monday, January 28th at New England College.  ECSU travels for a Little East Conference tilt at Rhode Island College on Saturday, January 19th.
