Brookline, MA - Green Mountain College was unable to overcome a slow start and poor shooting in today's 73-66 loss to Newbury College. Newbury came out hot, going 16-31 from the field in the first half to build a 39-26 advantage at the break. Green Mountain attempted to mount a comeback, and managed to trim the Nighthawks lead to 4 with 1:48 remaining in the second half, but Newbury held up at the free throw stripe, finishing 11-15 in the second half. Green Mountain was paced by Doug Hammond's 21 points, 16 rebounds and 7 blocks and Adam Fisher's 24 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists in the losing effort.

Green Mountain returns to action tomorrow when they will travel to Mitchell College to take on the Pequots at 3pm.
