Poultney, VT - The annual Green Mountain College Athletic Awards Banquet was held on Saturday, April 30 with several student-athletes walking away from the ceremony holding some prestigious awards.
Nicole Horvath (Fort Edward, NY) and Matt Tarricone (Oneonta, NY) were awarded the James M. Pollock Senior Athlete Award for their tremendous contributions to the athletics program here at GMC.
Sophomore forward Christopher Gaskin (Atlanta, GA) of the men's soccer team and freshman Johanna Douglas (Essex, CT) from women's lacrosse and women's soccer were named the male and female Athlete of the Year, respectively, for their outstanding athletic ability and achievement during the current academic year.
Olesea Cojohari (Balti, Moldova) and Edgar Vigil (Marlborough, MA) took home the Service Award for demonstrating superior citizenship and ethical conduct on and off the playing fields of Green Mountain College.
The Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) presented the Senior Student-Athlete Award to Cojahari and Tarricone.
Noka Garrapy, the College's IT Associate Manager of Data Systems, and Brad Mitchell, the Sports Information Director and Men's Soccer Head Coach, were recognized by the Athletics Department for all of their assistance and outstanding contributions to the athletics program as they both received the Director's Award.
